Warriors open the NCAA Championship  against No. 15 Elmhurst
 
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Earning an automatic bid into the NCAA Championship after winning the MAC Commonwealth Championship for the third time in five years, the Lycoming College men's basketball team will take a trip to the College of Wooster for its first round matchup against 15th-ranked Elmhurst on Friday, March 6, at 4 p.m.
 
The Warriors (20-8 overall) defeated Arcadia, 68-64,in the finals of the conference tournament. Junior Darius Dangerfield was named the tournament MVP after he scored 22 points in the final and he averaged 21.0 points, 6.3 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game in the tournament.
 
Elmhurst (23-5 overall) defeated Illinios Wesleyan, 78-72, behind Jake Rhode's 22 points in the CCIW Championship final. Rhode leads the Blue Jays in points (20.5), assists (4.1) and steals (1.4) per game.
 
Game Notes
• The Warriors are making their eighth NCAA  Championship appearance in program history and their fourth since 2010.
 
• Lycoming has made an NCAA Championship appearance in each of the last five decades (1985, '96, '02, '04, '10, '16, '17, '20).
 
• With a win, the Warriors can tie the 1995-96, 2003-04 and 2009-10 teams for the second-most in program history.
 
• Freshman Dyson Harward ranks 13th in the country in blocked shots (63).
 
• Harward was named the MAC Commonwealth and City of Basketball Love (CoBL) All-Area Division III Rookie of the Year.
 
• With 280 3-pointers, the Warriors have blasted past the previous school record of 257 set in 2018-19.
 
• Senior Ryan Hollis (67), sophomore Matt Ilodigwe (57) and junior Darius Dangerfield (50) are the first trio in program history to each hit 50 3-pointers in a season.
 
• Dangerfield needs one more point to become the 42nd player in school history to score 400 in a season.
