Warriors hit the road for first time with trip to Alvernia

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - After the opening the season with a succesful 5-1 homestand, the Lycoming College men's basketball team will hit the road for the first time in 2019-20, heading to Alvernia University for the MAC Commonwealth opener on Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 6 p.m.

The Warriors (5-1 overall, 0-0 MAC Commonwealth) are coming off a 79-70 overtime win against Susquehanna. Five Warriors finished in double figures, led by junior Darius Dangerfield, who finished with 19 points. Junior D'Yante Doughty scored eight of his 14 points during the overtime period.

The Golden Wolves (3-2 overall, 0-0 MAC Commonwealth) were postponed due to a power outage on Sunday, Dec. 1, against Immaculata with the team leading 43-35 at halftime. They beat Penn State Berks, 97-68, in their last full game.

Game Notes
• This is the Warriors' last conference opener in the MAC Commonwealth, as a conference shuffle pushed Lycoming into the MAC Freedom starting in 2020-21.

• Since joining the MAC Commonwealth in 2007-08, the Warriors are 8-4 in conference openers.

• With a win, the Warriors can improve to 6-1 (or better) for the third time in the past four years.

• At least four Warriors have scored in double figures in each of Lycoming's six games this year. The Warriors are 12-6 in games where that occurs the past two years.

• Freshman Dyson Harward blocked a school-record eight shots against Susquehanna, breaking the mark of seven in a game set by Michael Rudy against Penn College in 2013.

• Junior D'Yante Doughty needs to score 13 more points to reach 500 in his career.

• Senior Ryan Hollis needs to score nine more points to reach 100 in his career.
