ANNVILLE, Pa. – Led by multiple wins from six different swimmers, Lycoming College won 23 events and both the men, 111-72, and the women, 146-106, came away with wins against Middle Atlantic opponent Lebanon Valley on their final dual meet of the season on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 27, in the Arnold Sports Center.
In the women's meet, the Warriors (4-3 overall, 4-3 MAC) took home first-place finishes in all but three events.
Senior
Emilie Kramer (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro) finished first in the 200-meter individual medley (2:41.51) and the 200-meter breaststroke (2:56.50). Sophomore
Cara Zortman (York, Pa./York Suburban) won the 100-meter freestyle (1:04.23) and the 200-meter freestyle (2:20.83).
Zortman also team up with sophomore
McKenna Zeller (White Haven, Pa./Holy Redeemer), freshman
Devon Kaiser (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson) and senior
Amanda Waldo (Katy, Texas/Katy) to place first in the 200-meter freestyle relay (1:57.80). Zeller won the 200-meter backstroke (2:32.40) and the 50-meter free (28.97), while Kaiser won the 100-meter breaststroke (1:25.38).
Zortman, Kaiser and Zeller also teamed up with sophomore
Mikayla Wright (Danville, Pa./Danville) to place first in the 200-meter medley relay. Junior
Elena Pikounis (Marriottsville, Md./Marriotts Ridge) added another win in the 200-meter butterfly (2:54.16) and sophomore
Sheila Whitman (Lake Ariel, Pa./Wallenpaupack) carried momentum from her last meet, winning the 800-meter freestyle (11:06.49).
On the men's side, the Warriors (3-4 overall, 3-4 MAC) brought home first-place finishers in all but one event. Senior
Callan Jordan (Hurley, N.Y./Western Academy of Beijing) won the 50-meter free (25.37) and the 100-meter free (56.74). Freshman
Jake Booth (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) joined Jordan in winning multiple individual events, taking home the 200-meter free (2:06.01) and the 400-meter free (4:40.14).
The senior-freshman duo also teamed up with sophomores
Brandon Vought (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg) and
Caleb Beard (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) to win the 200-meter freestyle relay (1:48.77). Beard added a win in the 100-meter butterfly (1:07.55), while Vought won 200-meter backstroke with a swim of 2:28.46. Jordan and Beard picked up another relay win, joining seniors
Michael Panczyszyn (Linden, Pa./Jersey Shore) and
Blaise Finn (Annandale, N.J./North Hunterdon) with a swim of 1:59.83 in the 200-meter medley relay.
Sophomore
Dominick Berardelli (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville) continued to improve, winning the 200-meter individual medely (2:32.17) and the 100-meter backstroke (1:08.71). Junior
Will Gillespie (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) won the 200-meter butterfly (2:33.84) and junior
Josh Caro (Ontario, Calif./Colony) won the 100-meter breaststroke (1:15.13) to round out the wins for the Warriors.
The Warriors are back in the pool at the Middle Atlantic Conference Swimming Championships at the Graham Aquatic Center in York, Pa., with the four-day event kicking off at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14.
