Warriors open 2018-19 season with trip to Penn St.-Hazleton

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - After notching 17 wins last year, the Lycoming College women's basketball team will open the 2018-19 campaign by hitting the road for Penn St.-Hazleton on Tuesday night, Nov. 12.

The Warriors (0-0 overall) return three starters and six key contributors from the 2017-18 squad that reached the MAC Commonwealth semifinals for the second year in a row. Junior Akilah McFadden led the returning players with averages of 11.0 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.

The Lions (1-1 overall) are coming off a 93-73 loss at Wilkes on Saturday. Senior point guard Mckenzie Prutsman led the team with 36 points and five rebounds and sophomore Lauren Pataki added 21 points and eight rebounds.

• The Warriors were selected to finish third in the MAC Commonwealth Preseason Coaches' Poll.

• The Warriors reached the MAC Commonwealth semifinals for the second year in a row in 2017-18, a first in program history.

• The Warriors led the MAC Commonwealth with a .341 defensive field goal percentage, .339 3-point field goal percentage, 5.8 3-pointers made and 5.5 blocked shots per game in 2017-18.

• With 156 career steals, junior Akilah McFadden needs one more to move into a tie for 17th in program history with Lyndy LeVan (1999-03).

• The Warriors are 13-12 in season openers in head coach Chris Ditzler's tenure.

• The Warriors set a program-record with 108 points in a 108-61 win over Penn St.-Hazleton in 2017 in Lamade Gym.
