WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Junior Ann-Marie McMurtrie (Centre Hall, Pa. / Penns Valley) set career highs with 18 points and six blocks to lead the Lycoming College women's basketball team to a 64-52 victory over Juniata College in Landmark Conference action on Wednesday, Feb. 18 at Lamade Gym.
In their penultimate contest of the regular season, Lycoming (8-16, 4-13) shot 42.1 percent from the field, knocked down eight three-pointers, and recorded a season-high nine blocks as they swept the season series with Juniata (5-19, 3-14).
The Warriors trailed 18-17 after a back-and-forth first quarter, but started the second quarter on a 12-2 run to take a 29-20 lead on a fast-break layup from sophomore Jocelyn McCracken (Jersey Shore, Pa. / Jersey Shore Area) with 4:18 to play in the first half. The Warriors ended up outscoring the Eagles 19-7 in the second quarter to lead 36-25 at halftime.
In the second half, the Warriors extended the lead to as many as 15 points on three occasions and never led by fewer than eight points, keeping the Eagles at arm's length the rest of the way.
McMurtrie tallied her 18 points on 7-for-10 shooting, knocking down both of her three-pointers, squeezing seven rebounds, and swatting away six shots, the first a Warrior has recorded a half-dozen blocks since Erica Lutz did so twice in the 2018-19 season.
She was joined by senior Allison Fisher (Pinehurst, N.C. / Burrell) in double figures, who tallied 14 points, six rebounds, and five assists, knocking down four three-pointers. McCracken finished with 11 points and three rebounds, senior Kami Abdo (Pottsville, Pa. / Nativity BVM) notched nine points and six rebounds, and senior Victoria Burton (Marietta, Pa. / Donegal) pulled in a team-high eight rebounds.
Emily McCann led Juniata with 10 points and five rebounds, while Emma Coolidge snagged a game-high 11 rebounds.
The Warriors will finish the regular season with a Landmark Conference matchup against Elizabethtown College on Saturday, Feb. 18. The Warriors will also celebrate Senior Day, with the festivities getting underway shortly before a scheduled 4 p.m. tip from Lamade Gym.
