Warriors open season with win

Box Score BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Junior T.J. Duckett (Severna Park, Md./Calvert Hall) scored a team-high 18 points off the bench to lead six players in double figures as the 22nd-ranked Lycoming College men's basketball team opened its season with a 101-81 win over Medgar Evers College on Wednesday evening, Nov. 15, at MEC Prep Gymnasium.
 
With the win, Lycoming 10th year head coach Guy Rancourt moved to 10-0 in opening season games while at Lycoming.
 
Duckett led six Warriors in double figures, with five of those scores coming off the bench as the Lycoming reserves accounted for 61 points. Junior Darius James (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin) led the Warrior starters with 13 points while senior Alex Newbold (Bowie, Md./DeMatha Catholic) added 10. Freshman Ramadan Jennings (Jackson Ohio/Life Skills) scored 14 points in his debut while sophomore Ronald Jefferson (Brooklyn, N.Y./Christ the King) added 12 off the bench in his hometown. Sophomore Tamer Tamer (Middle Village, N.Y./Maspeth), playing in his first collegiate game, scored 11 points off the bench.
 
Maurice Swaby II led the Cougars with a game-high 33 points.
 
Lycoming (1-0) returns to the court on Friday, Nov. 17, as it hosts Penn State Wilkes Barre at 6 p.m. in the opening round of the annual Dutch Burch Tip-Off Tournament.
