Warriors set for to return to MAC Commonwealth play against Dutchmen

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Riding a nine-game winning streak, the Lycoming College men's basketball team will step into MAC Commonwealth play for the rest of the season, beginning by facing off with Lebanon Valley on Wednesday, Jan. 4, at 8 p.m., in Lamade Gym.

The Warriors (12-1 overall, 4-0 MAC Commonwealth) were predicted to finish first in the conference's preseason poll and they sit atop the conference's standings a quarter-way through the league season.

The Flying Dutchmen (8-5 overall, 2-2 MAC Commonwealth) were the only other team to earn first-place votes in the preseason poll and were selected to finish second. The team is riding a four-game winning streak, beating Clark, 72-62, in its last outing.

Warrior Notes
• The win over Delaware Valley was the 200th in head coach Guy Rancourt's career. Rancourt, in his 13th year as a head coach, won 55 games in four years at John Jay and 145 in nine years at Lycoming.

• Lycoming can win its 10th straight game on Jan. 4, which would be tied for the third-longest in program history.

• The Warriors lead the MAC Commonwealth in assists (17.8), field goal percentage defense (.396), scoring margin (+11.5), scoring offense (81.8) and steals (10.7).

• Lycoming's 11-game win streak in Lamade Gym is the fifth-longest active stretch in Division III.

• Junior Alex Newbold earned Basinger Tournament MVP honors after averaging 12.0 points and 10.0 rebounds during the two wins.

• Senior Nyk King needs three more steals to become the 15th player in program history to reach 100 in a career.
