Lycoming heads to Arcadia with second place on the line

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Hanging onto second place in the MAC Commonwealth by a half game, the Lycoming College men's basketball team heads to Arcadia University looking to avenge a December loss and keep Arcadia from jumping the Warriors in the league standings when the two play on Saturday, Feb. 6, at 3 p.m.

The Warriors (15-6 overall, 7-5 MAC Commonwealth) fell to Messiah in their last outing, as the Falcons shot nearly 50 percent from the field and hit 10 3-pointers in the 68-47 win. Sophomore Alex Newbold led the Warriors in the game, posting 16 points and eight rebounds.

The Knights (13-7 overall, 6-5 MAC Commonwealth) were also dealt a tough loss in their last outing, falling, 72-66 at Albright. Junior Ryan Kelley led the team with 17 points.

Warrior Notes
• Lycoming's magic number to clinch a spot in the five-team MAC Commonwealth Championship is three (any combination of Lycoming wins and losses from the sixth-place team).

• Lycoming needs one more win to post its fifth straight .500 season in MAC Commonwealth play, joining Alvernia as the only team in the league to achieve that mark.

• Freshman T.J. Duckett became the 27th player in school history to can 50 3-pointers in a season with his one 3-pointer against Messiah.

• Sophomore Alex Newbold needs five more steals to become the 14th player in school history to post 100 in a career.

• Lycoming's 211 steals this season are seven shy of the top 10 in school history, where the 1998-99 squad sits with 218.

• The Warriors have taken more shots from the field than their opponent in all but two games this season. They have taken at least 10 more shots 13 times.
