Warriors get set for trip to Hood in midst of four-game road stretch

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - After a 12-point win at Messiah to help the Lycoming College men's basketball team split the first two games of a four-game road trip, the team will head into the second half of the road swing on Saturday, Jan. 9, when it heads to Hood for a 3 p.m. game.

The Warriors (10-3 overall, 3-2 MAC Commonwealth) built up a 20-point first half lead and then withstood a late rally from Messiah by hitting 9-of-10 at the free throw line in the final 93 seconds to post a 74-62 win on Wednesday, Jan. 6.

The Blazers (8-6 overall, 2-3 MAC Commonwealth) fell to Alvernia, 65-61, in its last outing, as they notched a 15-5 run in the final five minutes to close in on a 14-point Alvernia lead. 

Warrior Notes
• Freshman T.J. Duckett and sophomore Chris Wallace each scored a career-high 20 points at Messiah. It was the first time in a span of 15 games that the Warriors had a 20-point scorer.

• Duckett is averaging 17.3 points and 3.8 3-pointers made in the last four games.

• The Warriors have forced opponents into at least 10 turnovers in each of the first 13 games this year and in 18 in a row. They are 13-5 (.722) in that span.

• Lycoming is fifth in Division III with 16.69 offensive rebounds per game and total free throw attempts (374).

• Sophomore Alex Newbold has a steal in 38 of the 39 games he has appeared in as a Warrior.

• Junior David Johnson needs 23 more points to reach 1,000 in his collegiate career. He scored 830 in two seasons at Mercer County Community College.

• Junior Nykolas King needs three more assists to reach 100 in his career.
