Warriors ready for Saturday matinee with Widener

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Ending a month where six of its first seven games were played on the road, the Lycoming College men's basketball team will try to end the treacherous run with its sixth win during the stretch on Saturday, Jan. 30, when Widener visits Lamade Gym for a MAC Commonwealth clash.

The Warriors (14-4 overall, 6-3 MAC Commonwealth) fell in a close contest to first-place Alvernia, 83-79, on Wednesday, Jan. 27. Freshman T.J. Duckett and sophomore Alex Newbold each scored 20 points in the game.

The Pride (9-10 overall, 4-6 MAC Commonwealth) posted a 62-58 win over Albright in their last outing. Sophomore Sardayah Sambo led the team with 16 points, 12 rebounds, seven blocks and five assists in the win.

Warrior Notes
• The Warriors lead the MAC Commonwealth in scoring offense (80.2), rebounding (44.2), offensive rebounds (15.9), rebounding margin (6.2), turnover margin (+6.0), steals (10.3) and assists (14.3).

• Sophomore Chris Wallace has two 15-plus rebound games this year, the most for a Warrior since Matt Stackhouse had three such games in 2004.

• Wallace needs eight more points to reach 400 in his career.

• Freshman T.J. Duckett has hit 34 3-pointers (3.4 per game) during his last 10 games. Duckett is second in the MAC Commonwealth with 2.7 3-point field goals made per game.

• Junior David Johnson leads the MAC Commonwealth with an average of 3.9 assists per game in league play.

• Sophomore Alex Newbold is the only player in the MAC Commowealth in top five in steals (1.9, fourth) and field goal percentage (.524, fourth).
