WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - After dropping the defending conference champions in the season opener, the Lycoming College men's basketball team will look for a win against the MAC Commonwealth preseason favorites on Saturday, Dec. 5, when it hosts Stevenson University at 3 p.m.
The Warriors (4-1 overall, 1-0 MAC Commonwealth) posted an 80-66 win over Alvernia on Dec. 2, overcoming a four-point halftime deficit by shooting 50 percent and scoring 45 points in the second half. Junior
Nykolas King led the way with 17 points and eight rebounds.
The Mustangs (2-4 overall, 1-0 MAC Commonwealth) posted a 74-55 win over Messiah on Dec. 2, with senior Erik Fisher posting 22 points and 12 rebounds in the win.
Warrior Notes• The Warriors are trying to improve to 2-0 in the MAC Commonwealth for the third time in the last four years.
• The Warriors lead the MAC Commonwealth in scoring margin (10.6), rebounding (43.8), offensive rebounds (15.2), rebounding margin (5.6), assists (17.00) and steals (11.20).
• Junior
David Johnson needs 10 more points to reach 900 in his collegiate career. He scored 830 points in two years at Mercer Community College.
• Freshmen
Calvin Chandler and
T.J. Duckett are second (.500) and fourth (.478), respectively, in the MAC Commonwealth in 3-point field goal percentage.
• Sophomore
Alex Newbold is one of two players in the MAC Commonwealth in the top five in the league in both assists (4.2) and steals (2.6) per game.
• Junior
Nykolas King tipped in a buzzer-beater to help the Warriors to a 76-74 win in the last meeting with the Mustangs.
