WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Through its first 10 conference games, the Lycoming College men's basketball team has only dropped games to teams from Maryland. The team will try to change that on Saturday, Jan. 31, when Hood comes to Lamade Gym.
The Warriors (13-6 overall, 8-2 Commonwealth) are coming off a 66-64 win at Messiah, as the team didn't allow Messiah a shot in the game's final 30 seconds to hold on for the season sweep of the Falcons. Now, they are looking for their first win of the season against a Maryland school after falling to Hood (72-70) and Stevenson (79-73, OT) during the first portion of the league schedule.
The Blazers (9-10 overall, 5-5 Commonwealth) are facing a near must-win, as they are tied for the fifth and final playoff slot with Lebanon Valley.
Warrior Notes• The Warriors are looking to improve to 9-2 in conference play for just the sixth time in program history (1965-66, 1984-85, 1995-96, 2002-03, 2003-04).
• Lycoming's magic number (any number of Lycoming wins or sixth-place team losses) to clinch a Commonwealth Conference playoff spot is four.
•
Justin Iton needs three more points to become the fourth freshman to reach 100 on the season, joining
Issak Bodon,
Alex Newbold and
Chris Wallace. It would mark the first time in program history four freshmen have scored 100 points.
• Senior
Patrick Dougher moved past Jason Black (1998-02) for ninth in program history with 160 3-pointers in his career.
• Senior
Malcolm Covington needs 19 more points to reach 1,000 in his collegiate career. He scored 647 in two years at SUNY Orange.
