WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Having concluded the first half of the Commonwealth Conference season, two familiar contenders will start the second half on Saturday, Jan. 24, at Lamade Gym, as the first-place Lycoming College men's basketball team takes on the defending conference champions, Alvernia.
The Warriors (11-6 overall, 6-2 Commonwealth) have won five of their last six games to move into a solo spot atop the conference standings. The lone loss in that time came in overtime to Stevenson, which is tied with Alvernia for second in the league standings.
The Crusaders (10-6 overall, 5-3 Commonwealth) have come on strong to move within a game of first place in the conference standings, winning its last five games, which included four league contests.
Warrior Notes• The Warriors are looking for their second series sweep of the Crusaders since Alvernia joined the league in 2009. Alvernia posted series sweeps in 2010-11 and 2013-14 and Lycoming notched its one in 2009-10.
• The Warriors are ninth in Division III with a +6.3 turnover margin.

Justin Iton needs 10 more points to become the fourth freshman to reach 100 on the season, joining
Issak Bodon,
Alex Newbold and
Chris Wallace. It would mark the first time in program history four freshmen have scored 100 points.
• The Warriors' nine freshmen have accounted for 729 of the team's 1282 total points, representing 57 percent of the team's output.

Patrick Dougher is two 3-pointers shy of reaching the top 10 in program history, where he can tie Rasheed Campbell (1996-00) and Ihsaan Davis (2009-13) with 157.
