First-place Warriors ready for tussle with Commonwealth favorite Stevenson

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Projected to finish seventh in the preseason coaches' poll, the first-place Lycoming College men's basketball team will face off with preseason conference favorites, Stevenson University, today in an important Commonwealth Conference clash at Lamade Gym.

The Warriors (10-5 overall, 6-1 Commonwealth) are coming off a 76-69 win over second-place Lebanon Valley on Wednesday, Jan. 14. Sophomore Nykolas King led the team with 18 points and 11 rebounds, scoring four straight points to break the last tie with 3:01 left.

The Mustangs (10-5 overall, 3-3 Commonwealth) are coming off a come-from-behind 69-61 win over Hood on Jan. 14. Junior Christian Roberts led the team with 18 points.

Warrior Notes
• The Warriors are 6-1 in conference play for the first time since 2009-10, the last time the team earned the top seed in the Commonwealth Conference Tournament.

• At least three Warriors have scored in double figures in all seven of the team's conference games.

• Senior Pat Dougher reached 700 points in his collegiate career with his eighth of 10 at Lebanon Valley.

• Freshman Alex Newbold has at least one steal in all 15 games this year.

• Lycoming is 7-2 when it hits at least five 3-pointers.

• The Warriors' nine freshmen have accounted for 648 of the team's 1142 total points, representing 57 percent of the team's output.

• The Warriors entered the week as one of two teams in Division III to force opponents into 300 turnovers this season. Lycoming had 305 before forcing 16 more at Lebanon Valley. Pine Manor led the nation with 312.
