Upset-minded Warriors out to make waves at Lebanon Valley

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Heading into the final week of the first half of the conference season, the Lycoming College women's basketball team will hit the road to face a perennial Commonwealth Conference favorite in Lebanon Valley on Wednesday, Jan. 14 at LVC Gymnasium.

The Warriors (9-5 overall, 2-4 Commonwealth) are looking to recover from a tough 69-60 loss at Arcadia, where the Warriors fell victim to a late comeback from the Knights. Junior Olivia Manges led the team in the game with 16 points and four 3-pointers.

The Flying Dutcmen (10-3 overall, 2-3 Commonwealth) are coming off a 75-68 loss to Widener on Jan. 7. Junior Taylor Umbrell led the team with 15 points and 12 rebounds and  freshman Kaitlyn Van Tash added 16 points.

Warrior Notes
• The last time the Warriors won at LVC Gymnasium was on Dec. 6, 2006, when they posted a 54-53 win. Current assistant coach Alicia Kidwell led the team with 16 points.

• Senior Ali Derr is eight rebounds shy of becoming the 19th player in school history to reach 400 in a career.

• With 146 career steals, senior Janelle Ziminski is two shy of eighth in school history, where Amy Bauman (1989-93) sits with 148.

• Junior Chelsea Henderson has already reached career highs in steals (31), blocked shots (16) and field goals made (56).

• Sophomore Nicole Calella is 10 points shy of reaching 300 in her career.

• The Warriors are 5-1 when freshman Shelby Mueller scores in double figures.

• Lycoming is 9-2 when shooting better than 30 percent from the floor.

• The Warriors are 8-1 when holding opponents to less than five 3-pointers made in a game.
