Box Score 2 ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Lycoming College volleyball team saw an end to its season-opening six-match winning streak on Saturday, Sept. 6, at the Golden Flyer Invitational on the campus of Nazareth College, falling to Buffalo State (25-17, 25-16, 25-7) and Fredonia, 3-1 (25-22, 25-10, 23-25, 25-11).
Buffalo State used 16 team blocks and hit .338 in the match en route to the 3-0 win in the morning match.
Sophomore
Kristine Jahn (Enola, Pa./Cumberland Valley) posted nine kills and eight digs to lead the Warriors (6-2 overall). Junior
Bethany Richardson (York, Pa./West York) notched five kills and two digs and freshman
Catherine Burger (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) added 19 assists and nine digs. Senior
Amber Seibel (McDonald, Pa./South Fayette) added eight digs and sophomore
Lauren Fink (York, Pa./West York) added three aces and nine digs.
Kayla Pyc led the Bengals with 10 kills and six blocks and Jessica Crooks also added six kills and six blocks. Jennifer Cecchettini posted 21 assists and six digs and both Hanna Renaldo and Sam Parente added eight digs. Renaldo led the team with five aces.
In the afternoon match, the Warriors fought back from down two sets to win the third, but Fredonia finished off the match with a 25-11 win in the fourth set to take the 3-1 win.
Sophomore
Haley Deibert (Sacramento, Pa./Tri-Valley) led the third set rally, as Lycoming won 25-23, with the setter notching eight assists in the set. She finished with nine assists and five digs. Freshman
Taryn Wojnar (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood) posted seven digs and three kills in the last three sets.
Richardson and sophomore
Tayler Whitman (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff) each posted four kills to lead the team. Senior
Kristin Whitehead (Avon, Ohio/Avon) led the team with 18 digs and Jahn added 13. Whitman added 10 more digs and Seibel posted 11.
Jess DiChristopher notched 13 kills to lead the Blue Devils (4-3 overall) and Paulina Rein added 12 kills and 21 digs. Kelly Edinger posted 38 digs, 11 digs and two blocks. Sara Madison notched four digs and nine digs.
The Warriors get back on the court on Wednesday, Sept. 10, when they head to Mount Aloysius for a 7 p.m. non-conference match.
