Box Score 2 ROCHESTER, N.Y. – It took a comeback in the first match, but in the second, the Lycoming College volleyball team led throughout, finishing with two wins on Friday, Sept. 5, at the Golden Flyer Invitational, beating RIT, 3-2 (25-21, 20-25, 13-25, 25-19, 15-7), and Medaille, 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-20), at Nazareth College.

Sophomore
Kristine Jahn (Enola, Pa./Cumberland Valley) led the Warriors (6-0 overall) with 21 kills during the two matches, helping the team to its first 6-0 start in school history, surpassing the school's previous best start of 5-0 set in 1998.

Against RIT (2-2 overall), the Warriors came back from a 2-1 deficit with convincing wins in the final two sets, thanks to the play of sophomore
Maggie Slawson (Armagh, Pa./United), who finished with 11 kills and hit .292 in the match.

Jahn also posted 11 kills and 10 digs in the match and sophomore
Lauren Fink (York, Pa./West York) notched seven kills, seven aces, six digs and two blocks. Freshman
Catherine Burger (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) added 37 assists and four digs and senior
Amber Seibel (McDonald, Pa./South Fayette) added 14 digs and two assists.

After hitting under .200 in each of the first three sets, the Warriors responded by hitting a solid .282 (18-7-39) in the final two to close out the win.

RIT was led by 21 kills and 12 digs from Sarah Szybist and Sara Martin added 11 kills. Bethany Davis notched 19 digs and Emma Dowdy notched 32 assists. Clair Foggo and Amy Van Hienen each added four blocks.

In the second match, junior
Bethany Richardson (York, Pa./West York) hit a red-hot .611, finishing with 11 kills in 18 attempts to lead the Warriors to the 3-0 win over Medaille.

Jahn added 10 more kills and six digs and Fink notched five kills and two aces. Sophomore
Tayler Whitman (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff) posted six kills and a block. Burger finished with 31 assists, 15 digs and two aces and Seibel collected 18 digs.

Jenna Cleversley posted 13 kills and 13 digs and Lydia Penbethy posted 11 kills to lead the Mavericks (2-5 overall). Simmone Talford notched 31 assists and nine digs.

The Warriors wrap up the Golden Flyer Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 6, when they face Buffalo State at 10 a.m. and Fredonia at 2 p.m.
