Photo GalleryWILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Down by a point and two sets early in the third set, the Lycoming College volleyball team rallied all the way back to keep its perfect record intact as the Warriors posted a 3-2 (20-25, 21-25, 25-23, 25-23, 15-11) win over Penn State Altoona in non-conference action on Wednesday night, Sept. 2.

Junior
Bethany Richardson (York, Pa./West York) led the comeback with six kills each in the third and fourth sets, as she finished with a team-high 19 to help the Warriors improve to 4-0 for the first time since 2008. She hit a solid .341 in the match and added two blocks and two aces.

Down 7-6 in the third set, the Warriors went on a 9-5 run to take a 16-12 lead and then held on to take the set, 25-23. The Lions (0-5 overall) closed within a point at 22-21, but sophomore
Lauren Fink (York, Pa./West York) responded with a  kill and later added an ace that helped seal the win.

In the fourth set, the Warriors jumped out to a 10-4 lead before Penn State Altoona rallied back to take a lead at 21-20. However, Fink responded with a kill to tie the match and kills by Richardson and sophomore
Kristine Jahn (Enola, Pa./Cumberland Valley) helped send the match to a deciding fifth set.

In the final set, a service ace by senior
Kristin Whitehead (Avon, Ohio/Avon) gave Lycoming a 7-3 lead before the Lions came within a point at 7-6. The Warriors scored the next four points, though, with freshman setter
Catherine Burger (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) using a sneak attack to cap the run. Lycoming never let Penn State Altoona back within three points and Richardson scored the last to Lycoming points with kills to give the Warriors a 15-11 win.

Jahn finished with 13 digs and a team-high 29 digs and sophomore
Tayler Whitman (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff) added 11 kills and two blocks. Fink posted nine kills and 11 digs and Burger posted a career-high 52 assists, five kills and nine digs. Whitehead notched three aces and 13 digs and senior
Amber Seibel (McDonald, Pa./South Fayette) contributed 22 digs.

Becky Britton led the Lions with 21 kills and 15 digs and Emily Frye finished with 42 digs. Tori Shingler added 10 kills and four blocks and Kristi Batzel notched 42 assists and three aces.

The Warriors get back on the court on Friday, Sept. 5, when they head to the Golden Flyer Invitational at Nazareth College, facing RIT at 4 p.m. and Medaille at 6 p.m.
