Warriors complete sweep at Penn College quad-meet

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Sophomore Kristine Jahn (Enola, Pa./Cumberland Valley) notched team-bests of 22 kills and 33 digs to lead the Lycoming College volleyball team on Saturday, Aug. 30, leading the team to a 3-0 sweep of Baptist Bible (25-12, 25-16, 25-21) and a 3-1 win over Wilkes (25-23, 26-24, 23-25, 25-19) at Penn College's Bardo Gym.
 
Jahn had a pair of great performances to lead the Warriors to a 3-0 start for the first time since 2011. She posted nine kills and nines digs against Baptist Bible (0-1 overall) before notching 13 kills, four assists, two aces and 24 digs against Wilkes (1-1 overall).
 
Jahn led the Warriors against the Defenders, while sophomore Lauren Fink (York, Pa./West York) added seven kills, 15 digs and two assists. The Warriors also posted 12 aces and forced 15 attack errors as they easily notched the 25-12, 25-16, 25-21 win.
 
Jahn led the team with three aces and sophomore Tayler Whitman (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff), senior Kristin Whitehead (Avon, Ohio/Avon) and freshman Catherine Burger (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) each added two. Burger also posted 24 assists and 13 digs for her first career double-double and Whitehead added eight digs. Senior Amber Seibel (McDonald, Pa./South Fayette) also added 14 digs.
 
Baptist Bible was led by seven kills each from Emily Harding and Tayrn Fritz. Hannah Rehm posted 16 assists and 13 digs.
 
In the afternoon match, the Warriors outlasted the Colonels in four tight sets to post the 3-1 win. Junior Bethany Richardson (York, Pa./West York) led the team with 15 kills, three blocks and a .452 hitting percentage. Richardson took over in the fourth set, posting six kills to lead the Warriors to the win.
 
Fink posted 11 kills and 15 digs and Burger notched 43 assists and 12 digs to go with Jahn's double-double. Whitehead notched three aces and 14 digs and Seibel posted two aces and 15 digs. Sophomore Maggie Slawson (Armagh, Pa./United) posted seven kills and three digs.
 
Ally Paskas led the Colonels with 12 kills and nine digs and Abby Sanders posted 10 kills. Marissa Mallory notched four aces and 16 digs and Erin Nothstein posted three aces and a match-high 31 digs. Megan Powers posted 39 assists and 10 digs.
 
The Warriors get back on the court on Tuesday, Sept. 2, when they host Penn State Altoona at 7 p.m. in non-conference action at Lamade Gym.
