Matt McCaffer (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) posted the 13
th hat trick of the season to lead the Lycoming College men's lacrosse team, but top-seeded and third-ranked Stevenson University used 19 goals in the middle two quarters to break open the Commonwealth Conference semifinal game en route to a 24-5 win at Mustang Stadium.

Chris Scanlon. The Warriors won a Commonwealth Conference Tournament First Round game for the first time in school history, as the 8-7 win over Messiah on Tuesday, April 29, was the first postseason win for the Warriors since 2005.
McCaffer finished the season with 53 goals, the fifth most in school history. The league-leader in goal-scoring, McCaffer's goal total is the most by a Warrior since 2005, when Dave Kirschner scored 56 goals. He also finished his career with 113 goals, the seventh-most in school history.
Two of McCaffer's goals were assisted by junior
Sean Reilly (Corning, N.Y./Corning-Painted Post West), who finished his season with 24 assists and with 77 in his career, which is already sixth in school history.
Stevenson (16-2 overall) scored the first two goals of the game before Reilly found McCaffer in front of the net to make it, 2-1, with 4:50 left in the first quarter. The Mustangs, however, went on a 20-1 run from there before junior
Christian Jacobs (Gwynn Oak, Md./Baltimore Lutheran) scored with 3:16 left in the third quarter. Both teams added two more goals to round out the scoring.
Junior
Thomas Hanson (Tucson, Ariz./Catalina Foothills) led the Warriors with four ground balls and sophomore
Michael Wagner (Pasadena, Md./St. Mary's) added three. Junior
Kieran McLaughlin (Elverson, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) added two caused turnovers.
The Mustangs were led by five goals from Billy Burgoyns, three goals and an assist from Glen Tomkins and two goals and four assists from Stephen Banick. Justin Buonomo led the team with nine ground balls and both Chris Dashiell and Kyle Holechek caused two turnovers.
Junior
Alex Wylly (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne) (7-10) posted 19 saves in the first 36 minutes and senior
Sean Brown (Baltimore, Md./Lansdowne) stopped six shots in the final 24 minutes. Dimitri Pecunes (16-2) made four stops in 33 minutes to earn the win for the Mustangs.
Stevenson advances to the conference championship game, which they will host on Saturday, May 3, at Mustang Stadium. No. 3 Albright was leading No. 2 Widener, 7-4, when a lighting delay paused the other conference semifinal in the third quarter.
