OWINGS MILLS, Md. – A run of 26 straight points between the first and second half helped fourth-seeded Stevenson University overcome an 18-point deficit and come from behind for a 68-54 win over the fifth-seeded Lycoming College women's basketball team in the first round of the Commonwealth Conference Tournament at Owings Mills Gymnasium on Monday night, Feb. 24.

The Warriors finish the season with a 13-12 record, the first winning record for the program since 2008-09, as it made its second straight appearance in the Commonwealth Conference Tournament while posting a five-win improvement.

In the first half, the Warriors fought off foul trouble in the post to take a 35-24 lead into the break thanks to 10 points each from juniors
Ali Derr (New Columbia, Pa./Milton Area) and
Janelle Ziminski (Drums, Pa./Hazleton Area).

The Warriors scored the first six points of the game, as Derr got the Warriors on the board before freshman
Nicole Calella (Sandyston, N.J./Kittatinny Regional) went coast-to-coast for a layup and Ziminski soared in for a deuce on a dish from the freshman point guard.

The Mustangs (14-12 overall) fought back to make it a one-point game at 14-13 with 12:35 left in the first half, but the Warriors responded with a 21-4 run that occupied the next nine minutes, as Derr started the run with eight points and Ziminski followed with back-to-back 3-pointers.

The run was capped on an inside layup by sophomore
Chelsea Henderson (Yonkers, N.Y./Yonkers) hit a baseline jumper with 3:58 left to make it 35-17. The Mustangs closed out the half with an 8-0 run to cut the gap to 11 points at the break.

In the second half, Stevenson kept the run going, starting the half with 19 straight points, taking a 43-35 lead before sophomore
Victoria Siebecker (Annville, Pa./Annville-Cleona) hit a jumper to end the run with 13:44 left. The Mustangs, though, kept hitting shots, though, extending the lead to 12 points and from there, Lycoming couldn't get back within nine points the rest of the way. For the half, the Mustangs shot 58 percent (19-for-33) from the field, rebounding from a first half in which they shot just 28 percent. The Warriors, meanwhile, were held to just 19 percent from the field.

Ziminski tied her career high with 14 points as the junior hit three 3-pointers and added five rebounds and two steals. Derr finished with 12 points and nine rebounds, crossing 300 career rebounds in the game. Antonelli finished her career with 10 points, giving her 1,170 in her career, fifth-most in school history. Her 747 rebounds are third-best in program history.

Olivia Manges (York, Pa./West York) finished with seven points and four assists and Calella posted five points, while freshman
Rachel Miller (Fayetteville, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) notched a career-high four assists.

Kayla Kelly led Stevenson with 16 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals and Kyarra Harmon added 15 points and nine rebounds. Stephanie Martinez posted 14 points, three rebounds and two assists and Ty Bender posted 12 points and five assists.
