Loiseau leads Warriors against Misericordia

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Senior Danielle Loiseau (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) led the Lycoming College women's swim team with three first-place finishes, but Misericordia was able to sweep a Middle Atlantic Conference dual meet with Lycoming, notching a 141-121 win on the women's side and a 140.5-121.5 win on the men's side on Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Lamade Gymnasium Natatorium.
 
Loiseau led the women's squad (3-2 overall, 3-2 MAC) by posting wins in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:46.35), the 500-yard freestyle (5:34.54) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:22.38), as she has now won eight of her last nine individual races.
 
The team won three other individual events, as senior Alexia Follweiler (New Ringgold, Pa./Panther Valley) notched a time of 2:25.29 to take the 200-yard butterfly, freshman Nina McGahey (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) notched a time of 2:49.41 to win the 200-yard breaststroke and senior BethAnn Schwoyer (Williamsport, Pa./Homeschooled) won the 200-yard backstroke in 2:19.83.
 
However, Misericordia (2-4 overall, 2-1 MAC) used eight wins to post the narrow 141-121 win.
 
On the men's side, the Warriors won five races as it made a bid for a dramatic comeback by winning five of the last nine events.
 
Freshman Isaac Thomas (Bellefonte, Pa./Homeschooled) notched  time of 2:03.53 to win the 200-yard butterfly, junior Dan Apostolu (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) posted a time of 22.48 to win the 50-yard freestyle and senior Dan Woods (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg North) won the 100-yard freestyle in 49.47 to start the rally.
 
After three wins from Misericordia, junior Josh Thomas (Fort Wayne, Ind./Concordia Lutheran) won the 100-yard butterfly in 54.10 and Woods added a time of 2:04.34 to take the 200-yard individual medley.
 
The Warriors get back in the pool on Friday, Nov. 21, when they head to the two-day Swarthmore Invitational. The Friday evening session kicks off at 6:30 p.m.
