GLENDALE, Pa. – Senior
Kevin Anthony (Columbus, Ohio/Bridgton Academy) became the 30th player in the Lycoming College men's basketball team's history reach 1,000 career points, but a late rally by Arcadia University helped it to a come-from-behind 79-76 Commonwealth Conference win at Alumni Gym on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 4.

Anthony reached the mark just five minutes into the game, kissing a layup off the glass with 14:57 left. He finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds, as he has scored in double figures in all 10 games this season, finishing the game with 1,012 points, just two behind John Boyd, who notched 1,014 from 1957-61.

Anthony was one of four Warriors who finished in double figures, as sophomore
William Wingate (Philadelphia, Pa./Mastery Charter) posted 14 points and nine rebounds, senior
Michael Rudy (Danville, Pa./Danville) added 11 points and seven rebounds and junior
Patrick Dougher (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains-Fanwood) added 10 points and two assists.

The Warriors (5-5 overall, 1-3 Commonwealth) took a 70-63 lead with 4:26 left after a layup by Wingate, but the Knights (5-5 overall, 1-3 Commonwealth) closed the game on a 16-6 run to post its first conference win of the season.

The Knights pulled within three points with a layup and two free throws before a layup by senior
Justin Miller (Agawam, Mass./Bridgton Academy) restored a five-point lead at 72-67 with 3:05 left. A layup by Travis Saltus was followed by a pair of free throws from Rudy with 2:21 left, keeping it a five point game. The Knights rallied from there, with a pair of free throws from Aaron Lee-Webb and a jumper from Alex Cohen making it a one-point game with 1:30 left at 74-73.

After a missed 3-pointer, Joe Brown hit a layup on an assist from Lee-Webb to give the Knights the lead for the first time in the second half with 38 seconds left. The Warriors responded when junior
Malcolm Covington (Bronx, N.Y./Christ the King) drove in for a layup with 38 seconds remaining.

However, a second-chance bucket by Alex Cohen with 15 seconds left gave Arcadia a 77-76 advantage and a Lycoming turnover forced it to foul and John Landro hit both free throws to seal the win.

Arcadia jumped out to a 13-3 lead and held a 27-17 left with 6:13 remaining in the first half before the Warriors rallied, starting with a 3-pointer from Dougher at the 6:00 mark to begin a 22-9 run to take a 39-36 lead into the break. Dougher led the run with eight points and both of his 3-pointers.

Lycoming continued to rally in the second half, getting the lead to 10 points at 51-41 with 15:01 remaining after a fastbreak layup by Rudy and then to 12 points three minutes later when Rudy canned a 3-pointer.

However, Arcadia used an 11-3 run to make it 60-56 with 8:52 left after a layup by Lee-Webb , getting the Knights back into the game, as they stayed within three possessions before starting the late rally from seven points down with 4:26 left.

Miller finished with nine points and three rebounds, Covington finished with eight points, six assists, five rebounds and three steals and sophomore
John Monkam (Lanham, Md./DuVal) added seven points and three rebounds.

Saltus finished with 18 points and five rebounds and Brown posted 18 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Knights. Lee-Webb notched 11 points, four assists and four rebounds.

The Warriors get back on the court when they head to undefeated Messiah College for a Commonwealth Conference game at 8 p.m.
