Warriors fall to Crusaders

Box Score WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College men's basketball team outscored defending Commonwealth Conference champion Alvernia University by 11 points in the second half, but a hot start by Alvernia helped it to a 78-63 win at Dutch Burch Court at Lamade Gym on Wednesday night, Jan. 29.
 
Freshman Nykolas King (New York, N.Y./Manhattan Center for Science & Math) led the Warriors (8-9 overall, 4-7 Commonwealth) with 11 points and five assists. Senior Michael Rudy (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) added nine points, four rebounds and one block and sophomore Eric Ishman (Jamaica, N.Y./Christ the King) added nine points on three 3-pointers.
 
Senior Kevin Anthony (Columbus, Ohio/Bridgton Academy) scored eight points, falling shy of double figures for the first time this year, six rebounds and four assists. Junior Pat Dougher (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains-Fanwood) added eight points and sophomore John Monkam (Lanham, Md./DuVal) added seven points and six rebounds.
 
The Crusaders (13-5 overall, 8-3 Commonwealth) shot 56 percent (19-of-34) in the first half to build a 45-19 lead, as they also added six 3-pointers and held Lycoming to just nine field goals. Both Harrison Deyo and Lamont Clark scored 10 points in the period to lead the way.
 
In the second half, Alvernia built the lead to as many as 32 at 66-34 with 10:23 left, but Lycoming finished the game on a 29-12 run, with Ishman hitting all three of his 3-pointers during the run.
 
Deyo led the Crusaders with 21 points, six assists and six rebounds. Brian Parker added 19 points and nine rebounds and Lamont Clark posted 12 points and three assists. Chris Davis added eight points and 10 assists.
 
The Warriors get back in action on Saturday, Feb. 1, when they host Widener in another huge Commonwealth Conference doubleheader at Dutch Burch Court at Lamade Gym. The women's game tips at 1 p.m. before the men play at 3 p.m.
