WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - After starting the first half of the conference season with a 10-point win at Elizabethtown, the Lycoming College men's basketball will look to make a move toward the top half of the league standings on Wednesday night, Jan. 29, as it hosts perennial league contender Alvernia at Dutch Burch Court at Lamade Gym.
The Warriors (8-8 overall, 4-6 Commonwealth) were led by a record-breaking performance from senior
Michael Rudy against Elizabethtown, as he blocked two shots to set the school's career record at 143 in the 69-59 win.
The Crusaders (11-5 overall, 7-3 Commonwealth) are out for their fifth straight win, after posting wins over Lebanon Valley, Arcadia, Elizabethtown and Widener. All four of the wins came with final margins of at least eight points.
Warrior Notes
• Senior
Michael Rudy surpassed Matt Stackhouse (2000-04) for first in career blocks with his second against Elizabethtown. Rudy now has 143 career rejections.
• Rudy needs six more points to reach 700 in his career.
• With 1,132 career points, senior
Kevin Anthony needs 15 points to surpass Will Kelly (2007-11) for 22nd on the school's all-time scoring list and 23 to surpass Dick O'Donnell (1963-67).
• Anthony's stretch of 16 straight double-figure scoring efforts is the longest for the Warriors since Jonathan Pribble did it in 17 straight games to begin the 2004-05 season.
• Without Jerald Williams' four years included from 2009-13, junior
Malcolm Covington's average of 5.2 assists per game is the third-best in program history.
• Four players have scored in double figures 11 times this year for the Warriors. The team is 7-4 in those games.
