ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Down by three points with 14:10 left, the Lycoming College men's basketball team allowed Elizabethtown to score just one point over the next six minutes and cruised to a 69-59 Commonwealth Conference win, paced by a double-double and a record-breaking performance from senior
Michael Rudy (Danville, Pa./Danville Area).

Rudy notched two blocked shots in the game, surpassing Matt Stackhouse (2000-04) for the school's career record and finishing the game with 143 blocked shots, one more than Stackhouse. He broke the record with a swat with 6:03 remaining on a layup by Jake Sweger.

Rudy also added 10 points and 12 rebounds, notching his second double-double in three games for the Warriors (8-8 overall, 4-6 Commonwealth). Senior
Kevin Anthony (Columbus, Ohio/Bridgton Academy) notched 22 points, his third straight 20-point game, and added nine rebounds and three steals. Junior
Malcolm Covington (Bronx, N.Y./Christ the King) added 12 points, six assists and three steals and junior
Pat Dougher (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains-Fanwood) added 11 points and seven rebounds.

Down 41-38, the Warriors ignited on a 16-1 run that occupied six minutes and was capped on a 3-pointer from Dougher that made it 54-42 with 8:34 remaining. The Blue Jays cut the lead down to seven just over a minute later, but two free throws from senior
Justin Miller (Agawam, Mass./Bridgton Academy) started a run of six straight points and Elizabethtown was only able to cut the lead to single digits once more, at nine points with 3:37 left.

The Blue Jays took a 9-0 lead to start the game before junior
Malcolm Covington (Bronx, N.Y./Christ the King) hit a free throw to stop the drought four minutes into the game. The Blue Jays continued to keep a lead throughout the next 12 minutes, leading by as many as 11 with 4:04 left in the half at 28-17.

However, the Warriors responded quickly over the next three minutes, scoring 11 straight points, as Anthony posted a dunk and followed that with a traditional 3-point play to tie the game at 28 with 1:04 left. After each team traded a pair of points, Tyler Simpkiss hit a 3-pointer to send the Blue Jays into the locker room with a 33-30 lead.

The Blue Jays were led by Lee Eckert, who posted 11 points and seven rebounds and 10 points from Tyler Simpkess, but the team was hampered by a 26 percent effort from the floor (19-of-72), including 17 percent in the second half.

The Warriors get back on the court on Wednesday, Jan. 29, when they start a stretch of five out of six games in the friendly confines of the Dutch Burch Court at Lamade Gym against Alvernia at 8 p.m.
