OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Junior Matt McCaffer (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) led the Lycoming College men’s lacrosse team with four goals to finish the season in the top 10 in school history in the category, but the Warriors fell in the season finale to fourth-ranked Stevenson, 26-5, in Commonwealth Conference action at Mustang Stadium on Saturday, April 27.
 
McCaffer finished the season with 44 goals, the 10^th-most in school history, as he moved past Dan Wilcox, who notched 43 goals in 2002, for the 10^th spot with his last goal of the season, which came with 10:37 left in the fourth.
 
The Mustangs (15-2 overall, 8-0 Commonwealth) jumped out with six goals in the first five minutes of the game before sophomore Sean Reilly (Corning, N.Y./Corning-Painted Post West) found McCaffer for his first goal of the game with 9:04 left in the first quarter.
 
After another goal by the Mustangs, McCaffer found the back of the net twice, with Reilly assisting and freshman Mike Cooper (Riva, Md./Archbishop Spalding) also adding a helper as Lycoming (4-11 overall, 3-5 Commonwealth) cut the lead to 7-3 with 3:35 left in the first stanza.
 
However, the Mustangs scored seven unanswered goals to take a 14-3 lead into the break and then added nine more goals in the first 19 minutes of the second half before McCaffer scored his fourth goal of the game. Senior Tom Lurie (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) rounded out Lycoming’s scoring with a score with 7:07 left before Stevenson scored three goals to close the game.
 
 Cooper and Reilly both notched two assists for Lycoming.  Junior Ben Adrian (Dallas, Pa./Wyoming Seminary) and senior Matt Doherty (Berlin, Md./Stephen Decatur) led the team with four ground balls.
 
In net, sophomore Alex Wylly (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne) notched 12 saves in 48 minutes and junior Sean Brown (Baltimore, Md./Lansdowne) added three saves in the last 12 minutes. Wylly finished the season with 175 saves, the sixth-most in school history.
 
Chris Dashell led the Mustangs with three goals and six assists and Tyler Reid added three goals and an assist. Mark Pannenton, Nick Rossi and Billy Burgoyne each also posted hat tricks. Brent Hiken won 15 faceoffs and notched 10 ground balls and Chad Williams posted three caused turnovers.
 
Mark Salerno earned the win in net, making four saves and allowing two goals in 45 minutes.
