Warriors head to Hood for regular-season finale

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -
With its first playoff ticket since 2000 already punched, the Lycoming College women’s basketball team will head to Hood College on Saturday, Feb. 16, for its final Commonwealth Conference game of the regular season, tuning up for the conference playoffs, which begin on Monday, Feb. 18.

The Warriors (8-15 overall, 8-9 Commonwealth) clinched the fifth and final seed in the conference playoffs with a come-from-behind 49-39 win over Albright on Tuesday, Feb. 12. Junior Julia Antonelli led the way for the team, posting 15 points and nine rebounds in the win.

The Blazers (5-19 overall, 3-14 Commonwealth) posted a 79-75 overtime win at Alvernia on Tuesday, Feb. 12. Emily Maerz led the team with 17 points off the bench.

Warrior Notes
• The Warriors can win their ninth conference game Saturday. It would be the first time since 2003-04 that the team finished .500 in league play and the first time since 1997-98 that the team won nine league games.

• With 73 steals, senior Rachael Scheller needs one more theft to tie Kim Wood (1987-88) for third in the school’s single-season record book.

• Scheller is 13 steals shy of the school’s career record of 239 set by Wood (1987-90).

• With 289 career assists, Scheller needs four more to tie Adrienne Wydra (1998-01) for fourth in the school’s record book.

• Junior Julia Antonelli became the ninth player in school history to reach 500 rebounds in a career with her first of nine against Albright.

• Antonelli needs seven more rebounds to become the 11th player in school history to pull down 200 in a season.

• Freshman Olivia Manges has scored in double figures in each of the last six games, averaging 13.5 points over that span.
