WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - With a magic number of three to clinch its second straight slot in the Commonwealth Conference playoffs, the Lycoming College men’s basketball team will try for its second sweep of a conference opponent this season when it faces Stevenson on Saturday, Feb. 2, in Lamade Gym.
The Warriors (14-6 overall, 8-5 Commonwealth), who are playing their final regular-season Saturday home game of the year, will honor their four seniors -
Ihsaan Davis,
Anthony Martin,
Jerald Williams and
John Ryan Wolff - before the game. The quartet has helped Lycoming to one NCAA Tournament, two conference championship games and needs just one more win to become the third class in school history to reach 70 wins in their careers.
Stevenson (12-8 overall, 5-8 Commonwealth) is coming off a 77-71 win over Widener.
Warrior Notes
• Sophomore
Chris Foreman’s seven 3-pointers at Messiah were the most for a Warrior since senior
Ihsaan Davis canned seven against Delaware Valley on Jan. 4, 2011.
• With 216 assists this season, senior
Jerald Williams is 11 shy of breaking his own school record of 227 set in 2011-12.
• Williams, with 72 steals this season, needs 12 more thefts to break his own school record of 84 set in 2009-10, his freshman year. Williams already owns the top four spots in the school’s single-season steals record book.
• With his last of three rejections at Messiah, junior
Michael Rudy became the first Warrior to post 40 blocked shots in a season since Matt Stackhouse set the school record with 55 in 2002-03.
• The Warriors string of 19 straight games with 70 or more points was snapped in the 67-66 win over Messiah. It was the longest stretch since the Warriors did it in 27 straight games from March 2, 1968-Jan. 3, 1970.
