Warriors host rival Crusaders in Hoops for Hounds Tournament

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - For the second time in the eight years of the Hoops for Hounds Tournament, the Lycoming College women's basketball team will host Susquehanna University in the championship game of the event at 3 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 30, at Dutch Burch Court at Lamade Gym.

The Warriors (5-3 overall) posted a 76-44 win over Anna Maria in the first round of the tournament, as the team had four players finish in double figures, led by 14 from senior Julia Antonelli and a career-high tying 13 from junior Janelle Ziminski.

The Crusaders (3-4 overall) posted a 66-61 win over Richard Stockton in the first round, as Mariah Monahan led the team with 17 points, also leading a group of four players that finished in double figures.

• Lycoming is looking for its third Hoops for Hounds Tournament title and first since 2009.

• The Crusaders and Warriors met in the championship of the 2006 Hoops for Hounds title game, with Susquehanna taking a 46-34 decision.

• The Warriors are looking for their first five-game winning streak since the team won seven in a row from Nov. 22-Jan. 3, 2008.

• Senior Julia Antonelli needs 29 more points to move past Kristin Friel (1986-90) for ninth in school history with 968 in her career.

• Antonelli needs 11 more rebounds to become the fifth player in program history to reach 600 in a career.

• Junior Ali Derr has notched 10 or more points in a career-high three straight games.

• Junior Janelle Ziminski has scored in double figures in two of the last three games, averaging 9.7 points in that span.
