WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Senior
Michael Rudy (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) scored a career-high 25 points and three others finished in double figures for the Lycoming College men's basketball team, but a strong start to the second half helped lift Susquehanna University to a 99-84 win in non-conference action on Tuesday night, Nov. 19.

The Crusaders (1-0 overall) used a 19-6 run in the opening four minutes of the second half to open a game that was deadlocked at 42 at the break. The Warriors cut the lead to five after a 3-pointer from junior
Jourdan Wilson (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) made it 68-63 with 11:19 left, but Susquehanna answered with five straight points.

The Warriors (2-1 overall) cut the lead back to five points again with 5:32 left as junior
Pat Dougher (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains-Fanwood) hit a trey to make it 81-76, but a layup and a free throw from Steven Weidlich again started a run of five straight Crusader points and the Warriors couldn't get back within eight points.

Susquehanna shot 52 percent (32-of-62) in the game, including 55 percent (11-for-20) from beyond the arc, helping negate a solid shooting effort from Lycoming, which shot 45 percent (34-of-76) from the field and 50 percent from three (12-of-24). The Crusaders also held a distinct advantage at the line, shooting 24-of-30 while the Warriors took just nine free throws.

In the first half, Lycoming jumped out on an 11-3 run and controlled much of the first 10 minutes, as a layup by freshman
Andy Abreu (Claridge, Pa./Penn-Trafford) gave Lycoming a 27-16 lead with 10:15 left, but Susquehanna used a 10-2 run to get back into the game after a fastbreak layup from Weidlich.

The Warriors got the lead back to seven after a putback fastbreak dunk by Rudy with 6:01 left, but the Crusaders hit a pair of 3-pointers to make it a one-point game and with 1:44 left, a three from Brandon Hedley gave Susquehanna its first lead, 39-37.

Sophomore
William Wingate (Philadelphia, Pa./Mastery Charter) hit a three and then a fastbreak dunk to give Lycoming the lead back, but a 3-pointer from Weidlich with 33 seconds left knotted the game at the break.

Rudy hit 10-of-19 from the floor, including five treys, and he also posted seven rebounds, three assists and two blocks. Senior
Justin Miller (Agawam, Mass./Bridgton Academy) added 12 points and two blocks and senior
Kevin Anthony (Columbus, Ohio/Bridgton Academy) posted 10 points. Wingate scored 16 points and added seven boards off the bench. Junior
Malcolm Covington (Bronx, N.Y./Christ the King) notched eight assists and Wilson posted six points and five assists. Dougher led the team with three steals, also posting five points and two assists.

Hedley led the Crusaders with 25 points, seven assists and four steals and Weidlich, a freshman, also added 25 points and seven rebounds. Josh Miller added 17 points and nine rebounds and Jake Eskin posted 12 points and four assists.

The Warriors get back on the court on Tuesday, Nov. 26, when they begin the Commonwealth Conference season by facing Elizabethtown at 8 p.m. at Dutch Burch Court at Lamade Gym.
