Warriors dominate en route to 73-57 win over Eastern

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Senior Julia Antonelli (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) posted 21 points and a career-high 16 rebounds to lead the Lycoming College women's basketball team to a 73-57 win in the consolation game of the Morgan Stanley Tip-Off Tournament at Billera Hall on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 16.
 
Antonelli earned a slot on the all-tournament team, as she also tied a career-high with five assists, as the Warriors (1-1 overall) enjoyed a great overall performance. Freshman Nicole Calella (Sandyston, N.J./Kittatinny Regional) added 10 points, seven assists, five rebounds and no turnovers and senior Victoria Kowalski (Mahopac, N.Y./Lakeland) posted a career-high 10 points, two 3-pointers and three rebounds.
 
Sophomore Victoria Siebecker (Cleona, Pa./Annville-Cleona) posted nine points and three rebounds and junior Janelle Ziminski (Drums, Pa./Hazleton Area) added eight points and four rebounds. Sophomore Olivia Manges (York, Pa./West York) added a career-high five assists.
 
The Warriors fell behind 10-6 through the first four minutes, but Antonelli started an 11-0 run with a traditional 3-point play and Siebecker capped it with a 3-pointer with 10:42 left. Late in the half, with the Warriors leading 23-16, a jumper by Ziminski started an 11-5 over the next three minutes, with Kowalski scoring seven points during the run, helping Lycoming take a 34-22 lead into the break.
 
Buckets by Antonelli and Ziminski helped Lycoming get the lead to 16 points before Eastern (0-2 overall) brought the lead back down to 12 points with 16:51 left in the second half. The Warriors used a 10-1 run to take a 50-29 lead after a layup by Manges with 14:25 left. The Eagles spent the rest of the game trying to catch up, cutting the lead to 11 points at 67-56 with 2:21 left, but a layup by senior Jenna Morgan (Tyrone, Pa./Indian Valley) and a jumper by Antonelli in the ensuing 40 seconds helped ice the game for the Warriors.
 
Meghan Nowak scored 10 points to lead the Eagles, as she earned all-tournament team honors. Emily Lavin also added 10 points and six rebounds and Kaleigh Boreman posted six points and four rebounds.
 
The Warriors posted a 52-32 advantage on the glass, helping the team to 20 second-chance points and 34 in the paint.
 
Lycoming gets back on the court on Tuesday, Nov. 19, against King's at 6 p.m. at Dutch Burch Court at Lamade Gym.
