WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - The first time this season that the Lycoming College men’s basketball team met Alvernia, it was the Warriors that were the hottest team in the Commonwealth Conference. On Wednesday night, Jan. 23, when the teams meet again in Reading, it will be the Crusaders who have ascended into the top spot in the conference standings by going 12-2 since the Warriors’ 75-62 win on Nov. 28.

The Warriors (12-5 overall, 6-4 Commonwealth) are going to try to rebound from back-to-back five-point losses, falling to Elizabethtown in overtime, 92-87, on Jan. 19.

The Crusaders (13-3 overall, 8-2 Commonwealth) have won six games in a row, including a 74-64 win over Hood on Monday, Jan. 21. Junior Chris Davis led the team with a career-high 17 points.

Warrior Notes
• Senior Anthony Martin has 56 points in the last two games, thanks to two 28-point efforts. The last time a Warrior scored that many points in a two-game span was in 2006, when Jonathan Pribble posted 28 against FDU-Florham before dropping 40 against Wilkes.

• With 305 career steals, senior Jerald Williams needs two more to pass Greg Dean of Concordia-Moorhead (1995-97) for 14th in NCAA Division III history.

• Williams needs four more assists to become the first player in school history to post back-to-back 200-assist seasons.

• Junior Kevin Anthony is two points shy of becoming the 48th player in school history to reach 800 career points.

• Junior Michael Rudy needs three blocked shots to become the sixth player in school history to reach 75 in a career.

• With a win, the Warriors can guarantee their fourth straight season above .500.
