WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - A furious seven-point rally in the final 36 seconds of regulation helped Elizabethtown College send the game to overtime and outlast the Lycoming College men’s basketball team, 92-87, in overtime in Commonwealth Conference action at Lamade Gym on Saturday, Jan. 19.

In overtime, the Warriors tied the game at 84 with a jumper in the paint by Martin, but Elizabethtown hit a free throw with 1:15 left and an offensive foul on Lycoming (12-5 overall, 6-4 Commonwealth) helped the Blue Jays on a five-point run. Lycoming got back within a possession when sophomore
Patrick Dougher (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains-Fanwood) hit a trey with 12 seconds left, but Elizabethtown closed out the win with a pair of free throws.
Both teams fought evenly in the first half, with neither team leading by more than five until a pair of free throws from Martin gave Lycoming a 29-22 lead. The Blue Jays fought back, though, closing the half on a 14-5 run to take a one-point lead into the break.
In the second half, the Blue Jays took a nine-point lead with 12:53 left, but the Warriors quickly worked back into the game, as senior
Jerald Williams (Riverdale, Md./Bladensburg) hit a free throw, Dougher added two free throws and junior
Michael Rudy (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) scored on a fastbreak to cut the lead to four points before freshman
William Wingate (Philadelphia, Pa./Mastery Charter) added a fastbreak layup to make it a two-point game. For good measure, Williams picked up a halfcourt steal and scored to tie the game before he found Dougher for a 3-pointer to highlight a 17-2 run that gave Lycoming a 71-62 lead with 4:42 left.
The Warriors got the lead to as many as 10 with 1:51 left before a pair of buckets by Elizabethtown cut the lead to five with 37 seconds left, setting up Martin’s free throws and the final moments of the game.
Martin finished with 28 points and four rebounds and Dougher and senior
Ihsaan Davis (Jamaica, N.Y./Christ the King) each added 13 points to lead Lycoming. Davis also added five rebounds and four assists. Both Rudy and sophomore
Chris Foreman (Union, N.J./Union) added 10 points and four rebounds. Williams finished with four points, nine assists and seven steals.
Andrew Mantz led the Blue Jays with 18 points, nine rebounds and two blocks and Ben Cable posted 19 points. Joe Bodnar notched 15 points and three rebounds and Renzi posted 12 points, 11 assists and five rebounds. Lee Eckert added 11 points and seven rebounds.
The Warriors will now hit the road, heading to Alvernia for a critical Commonwealth Conference doubleheader against Alvernia, on Wednesday, Jan. 23. The women tip at 6 p.m. before the men tip at 8 p.m.
