ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lycoming College men’s lacrosse team took a two-goal lead into the fourth quarter, but Lebanon Valley scored five straight goals to overcome the deficit and win its first game ever against the Warriors, 7-4, in Commonwealth Conference action on Tuesday, April 10.
 
Lycoming (4-6 overall, 1-1 Commonwealth) got on the board with 5:58 left in the first quarter, as senior Ethan Payne (Farmington, N.Y./Victor) connected on a pass from junior Stephen Romano (Sewell, N.J./Washington Township), but Lebanon Valley responded four minutes later to tie the game.
 
The Dutchmen (8-2 overall, 2-1 Commonwealth) took the lead early in the third quarter as Alex Beard scored on a man-up opportunity to make it 2-1 with 11:57 left, but Lycoming followed with a three-goal rally. Romano tied the game with 7:51 left in the quarter, scoring unassisted and less than a minute later, junior Tom Lurie (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) found the back of the net on a dish from Payne and freshman Sean Reilly (Corning, N.Y./Corning Painted Post West) gave the Warriors a two-goal cushion with 2:42 left on an assist from senior Ben Walker (Allentown, Pa./Parkland).
 
The Dutchmen fought back to tie the game in the first five minutes of the fourth quarter and Alex Beard delivered the game-winning tally with 7:00 left before they added two more goals late in the game.
 
Romano and Payne led the Warriors with a goal and assist each. Senior Tim Clemente (West Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) added eight groundballs and freshman Kyle Hauk (Sackets Harbor, N.Y./Immaculate Heart) and senior Victor Marchetti (Cortland, N.Y./Homer) each added four, as the team scooped up 34 in the game.
 
Malik Pedroso and Beard each had two goals and two assists for the Dutchmen and Matt Roupe added two scores. Ryan Lanigan forced six turnovers and Scott Sutton picked up six groundballs.
 
In net, Mike Moll made 10 stops for the Dutchmen and sophomore Andrew Hauk (Sakets Harbor, N.Y./Immaculate Heart) also added 10 stops for the Warriors.
 
The Warriors get back on the field when they head to Chester, Pa., to face two-time defending Middle Atlantic Conference champion Widener on Saturday, April 14, at 4 p.m. The Warriors have won their last two meetings against the Pride at Widener.
