WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Thanks to bonus points in four of the 10 bouts, the Lycoming College wrestling team got a win over a ranked opponent in its final try of the 2011-12 campaign, posting a 31-9 win over No. 29 Stevens Tech in dual meet action on Wednesday night, Feb. 8, at Lamade Gym.
 
Lycoming (6-8 overall) built a big lead early in the match thanks to a pair of forfeit wins at 125 pounds and 133 pounds. After Stevens Tech (10-7 overall) took a decision at 141 pounds, the Warriors rounded out the first half of the match with a pair of decision wins, as freshman Lucas Wisniewski (Conshohocken, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh) notched a takedown in each period to notch a 7-2 win over Connor Bass at 149 pounds for his eighth win of the year and freshman Brian Watkins (Bear Gap, Pa./Southern Columbia) posted an escape and added riding time in a 2-0 win over Ryan Owens at 157 pounds for his 14^th win.
 
After a pair of decisions by the Ducks, the Warriors clinched the match at 184 pounds, as junior Tyler Cunningham (Haddon Township, N.J./Haddon Township) notched a huge first-period pin, getting Will Sharkey on his back in 2:06, giving Lycoming a 24-9 lead. Senior Russ Korbul (Asbury, N.J./North Hunterdon) followed with a solid major decision win over Chris Florek, scoring two third-period takedowns to ensure the 10-2 win.
 
In the final match of the bout, junior Chris Geisel (Gibbsboro, N.J./Eastern Regional) notched a third-period reversal en route to a 3-2 win over Chris Moyer, as the Warriors reached the 30-point plateau for the second time this season.
 
The Warriors close out their regular season on Wednesday, Feb. 15, when they host Gettysburg at Lamade Gym at 7 p.m.
