WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - The last time the Lycoming College men’s basketball team and Messiah College met, Messiah walked out of Lamade Gym with a piece of first place. So when the two teams meet on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at Brubaker Auditorium, the Warriors will look to take a share of the top slot in the conference back.

With four games to play in the regular season, the Warriors (17-4 overall, 7-3 Commonwealth) are looking to top the league standings for the third time since joining the Commonwealth in 2007-08, while the Falcons (14-6 overall, 8-2 Commonwealth) are looking to earn the top seed in the conference championship for the first time since 2007.

The game will be a set of contrasting styles, as Messiah has the league’s top defense (59.3 points allowed per game) while Lycoming has the second-rated offense (81.1 points per game).

Warrior Notes

• The Warriors’ magic number to clinch a Commonwealth Conference Championship slot is two. Any combination of Warrior wins and losses by the fifth-place squad will help the Warriors clinch a playoff slot. Due to a tie at third in the conference, Lycoming’s magic number to earn a home playoff game is four.
• Junior Jerald Williams needs five assists to become the first Commonwealth Conference player to reach 200 dimes in a season since Elizabethtown’s Rocky Parise posted 217 in 32 games in 2001-02.

• Freshman Chris Foreman has three straight double-figure scoring games. Foreman, who was averaging 4.5 points before the streak, is averaging 14.3 points per game during his hot stretch.

• Senior Mike Bradley has scored in double figures in each of the last nine Commonwealth Conference games for the Warriors.
