Julia Antonelli (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) recorded her seventh double-double of the season, but Alvernia University overcame a five-point halftime deficit to notch a 62-54 win over the Lycoming College women’s basketball team on Senior Day at Lamade Gym on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 18.

Junior
Rachael Scheller (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy) added 11 points, five assists and six rebounds while hitting three from long-distance. Freshman
Kylee Sutton (Wysox, Pa./Towanda Area) added 12 points, five rebounds and two blocks, as she canned all eight of her free throws.
The Warriors (10-14 overall, 5-9 Commonwealth) fought back from a 7-2 deficit early in the first half to take a lead at 14-12 after a pair of free throws from Antonelli. After Alvernia got the lead back to four points with six straight points, the Warriors scored nine straight points, with Scheller canning a trey to give the Warriors a 23-18 lead with 4:20 left. In the second half, the Crusaders started the period with seven points. After one more lead change, Alvernia scored seven more straight points to wrap up the opening 14-4 run. The Warriors cut the lead to four points several times after that, with the last coming on a 3-pointer from Scheller with 53 seconds left, but the Crusaders closed the game with four free throws to take the 62-54 win.
Kelli McIntyre posted 25 points and nine rebounds to lead the Crusaders (12-13 overall, 5-9 Commonwealth), while Allie Toczylowski added 16 points, nine rebounds and two blocks. Angela Altemose posted 12 points, 11 rebounds and four assists.
Before the game, Connaghan and Shearer were honored for their contributions to the program in a short ceremony.
