WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - The Lycoming College women’s basketball will hit the road for Elizabethtown looking to ruin one of the biggest parties in the history of the Middle Atlantic Conference’s women’s athletics when the Warriors face the Blue Jays in the final home game of head coach Yvonne Kauffman’s 42-year career at the school on Tuesday, Feb. 14.
The Warriors (10-12 overall, 5-7 Commonwealth) can still finish at .500 in conference play for the first time 2003-04 with wins in its final two games. The team will also be out for some retribution, as the Blue Jays handed the Warriors a 72-70 overtime loss on Jan. 25.
The Blue Jays (15-7 overall, 8-4 Commonwealth) are jockeying for the third position in the league standings with Widener, as they enter the week a half-game behind the Pride.
Warrior Notes
• The Warriors’ average of 58.5 points per game allowed is currently the second-lowest in school history, just behind the 1991-92 team which allowed just 58.4 points per game.
• Sophomore Julia Antonelli crossed the 500-career-point mark with her first of 16 points against Widener and reached 300 career rebounds with her last of two in the game.
• Junior Rachael Scheller is three assists away from becoming the eighth player in school history to reach 200 in a career.
• Scheller’s 60 steals this season are tied for ninth in school history with Adrienne Aiken (1988-89).
• Senior Erin Connaghan needs six points to surpass her previous career-best of 119 set as a junior.
• The Warriors have outshot their opponents from the field in 14 of their 22 games.
• The Warriors are 6-0 when holding their opponents to 50 points or less.
