Lycoming looks for third straight Basinger Tournament title against John Jay

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - For Lycoming College men’s basketball coach Guy Rancourt, the championship game of the third annual Louis Fleming Basinger Tournament will have a familiar foe on the opposite sideline, as Lycoming faces John Jay, Rancourt’s previous head coaching stint, at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 30, in Lamade Gym.

The Warriors (10-1 overall) made the championship tilt with a 103-27 win over Cairn on Saturday, Dec. 29. Four players finished in double figures and three more finished with nine points, as Lycoming held Cairn to just 17 percent from the field in the contest.

The Bloodhounds (6-2 overall) earned a slot in the championship with a 74-65 win over Gallaudet. Jamar Harry and Michael Howard combined for 40 points in the win.

Warrior Notes
• The Warriors’ nine-game winning streak is tied for the fourth-longest in school history.

• Senior Jerald Williams enters the game with 685 career assists, which is 16th in NCAA Division III history. He needs five more assists to move past Tim Gaspar of Mass.-Dartmouth, who is 14th with 690 assists.

• Williams needs two more steals to enter the top 25 in NCAA Division III career history. He enters the game with 285 swipes.

• Senior Ihsaan Davis needs 13 points to become the 29th player in school history to reach 1,000 career points.

• Junior Kevin Anthony needs three more points to become the 50th player in school history to reach 750 career points.

• The 76-point win over Cairn in the opening round of the tournament is the largest in school history.

• The 27 points allowed were also a school record, besting the mark set in a 72-30 win over Juniata on Dec. 4, 1985.
