WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - After both teams posted tough four-point losses in the first round of the Hoops for Hounds Tournament, the Lycoming College and Eastern University women’s basketball teams will hit the floor for the tournament’s consolation game on Saturday, Dec. 29, at 1 p.m. in Lamade Gym. Susquehanna and MCLA will face off in the tournament championship at 3 p.m.
The Warriors (2-7 overall) held a nine-point lead in the second half over MCLA before the Trailblazers used a late rally to post a 73-69 win.
The Eagles (4-7 overall) held a 12-point lead in the first half against Susquehanna, but the Crusaders rallied in the second half, scoring the last four points to notch the 53-49 win.
Warrior Notes
• The Warriors are 6-7 all-time in the Hoops for Hounds Classic. They are 0-1 in tournament consolation games.
• Since joining the Commonwealth Conference in 2007, the Warriors are 11-5 against Freedom Conference teams.
• Junior
Julia Antonelli became the 18th player in school history to reach 400 rebounds in a career with her 11th of 12 against MCLA.
• Antonelli’s 25 points against MCLA were the sixth most scored in a Hoops for Hounds Tournament game. Her 11 field goals were the third best mark in the seven-year history of the program.
• Senior
Rachael Scheller needs 10 more assists to become the fifth player in school history to reach 250 in a career.
• With 183 career steals, Scheller needs one more theft to pass Adrienne Wydra (1998-01) for fourth in the school’s career history.
• Sophomore
Kat Andriani posted a career-high four assists against MCLA.
