WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - With the momentum of a two-game winning streak behind it, the Lycoming College women’s basketball team will head into Lamade Gym today looking to pull off the greatest upset in school history when No. 8 Messiah comes to town for a Commonwealth Conference game.
Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week
Julia Antonelli has led the Warriors (2-5 overall, 2-2 Commonwealth) to wins over Elizabethtown and Arcadia, averaging 15.5 points and 8.0 rebounds in the victories. The junior forward has been complimented by freshman
Shannon Wheeler, who has also scored in double figures in each of the wins.
Eighth-ranked Messiah (7-0 overall, 4-0 Commonwealth) is coming off a 53-43 win over Albright.
Warrior Notes
• Junior
Julia Antonelli needs five points to become the 26th player in school history to reach 600 career points.
• Senior
Rachael Scheller needs five more assists and three more steals to move into the top five in school history in those career categories.
• Sophomore
Kat Andriani had two or more blocks in four games this year. She is tied for fourth in the league with 1.6 blocks per game.
• Freshman
Shannon Wheeler leads the Warriors with four double-figure scoring performances.
• Wheeler has at least two assists in each of the last six games.
• The Warriors’ five freshmen have accounted for 40 percent of the team’s scoring this year.
• The Warriors have scored 20 or more points off the bench in all seven games this year and average 28.4 per game.
