WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - With a three-game winning streak to its credit, the Lycoming College men’s basketball team will take on a Hood College program that has a four-game win streak when the two clash for the first time as Commonwealth Conference opponents on Saturday, Dec. 1.
The Warriors (4-1 overall, 1-0 Commonwealth) are led by dynamic senior point guard Jerald Williams, who has tied his own school record with four straight games with 10 or more assists after posting 13 in a 75-62 win over Alvernia. During that time, he has helped the team place at least four players in double figures in each game.
The Blazers (4-1 overall, 1-0 Commonwealth) opened their Commonwealth era with an 80-66 win over Stevenson on Wednesday, Nov. 28.
Warrior Notes
• With a win, the Warriors can improve to 2-0 in the Commonwealth Conference for the second straight year. The program hasn’t reached that mark in back-to-back years since the 2001-02 and 2002-03 seasons.
• Junior
Kevin Anthony became the fifth player in school history to reach 75 career blocked shots with his second swat against Alvernia.
• Senior
Jerald Williams enters the game with 620 assists, which is 48 away from the MAC record of 668 set by Lebanon Valley’s Mike Rhoads from 1992-95.
• Williams needs just one more rebound to become the 65th player in school history to reach 300 in a career.
• Junior
Justin Miller leads the Commonwealth Conference with a .667 field goal percentage (18-of-27).
• The Warriors’ seven blocks against Alvernia were the most for the team since knocking away seven against Elizabethtown on Feb. 14, 2012.
