WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Coming off a tough loss to Salisbury in the finals of the Tip-Off Tournament, the Lycoming College men’s basketball team will get a chance to shake off the loss before Thanksgiving, heading to rival Susquehanna for an 8 p.m. showdown on Tuesday night, Nov. 20.
The Warriors (1-1 overall) have continued to rely on their fast-paced offense to provide fireworks, with the team averaging 22.0 fastbreak points and 13.0 off turnover through the first two games. Along the way, senior Jerald Williams has provided 19 assists and five steals, jumpstarting the team’s offense.
The Crusaders (1-1 overall) are also coming off a tough loss, falling to King’s in their own Tip-Off Tournament, 44-43. Freshman Tre Dean led the team with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Warrior Notes
• The Warriors have won the last three meetings against Susquehanna. The last time the Warriors won four in a row against the rival was from Jan. 5, 1984-Feb. 9, 1985.
• Senior
Jerald Williams needs three steals to reach 250 in his career. He is 40 steals away from the top 25 in NCAA Division III history.
• Williams enters today’s with 578 assists, which is 90 helpers away from the MAC record of 668 set by Lebanon Valley’s Mike Rhoads from 1992-95.
• Sophomore
Pat Dougher earned his second straight All-Tournament Team honors after averaging 11.5 points per game at the Tip-Off. He was also named to the Basinger All-Tournament Team in January.
• Junior
Kevin Anthony is averaging 13.5 points and 10.0 rebounds in two games against Susquehanna.
• The Warriors hit 12 3-pointers against Salisbury, the most for the team since they hit 12 against Elizabethtown on Jan. 20, 2010.
