Lycoming looks for first season sweep of Dutchmen on Saturday

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Coming off a tough three-point loss to Elizabethtown, the Lycoming College men’s basketball team will look to get back on the winning track when it heads to Lebanon Valley on Saturday, Jan. 28, for a 4 p.m. start.

The Warriors (15-3 overall, 5-2 Commonwealth) are looking for their first series sweep of the Dutchmen (10-8 overall, 3-4 Commonwealth) since joining the Commonwealth Conference in 2007-08. The Dutchmen, meanwhile, will be looking for a key win to buoy their playoff hopes, as they currently sit in a three-way tie for the fourth and final playoff slot with Widener and Elizabethtown.

Junior Jerald Williams will look to smash another record in the game, as he is seven assists from his own school record of 182 helpers set as a sophomore.

With junior Jerald Williams closing in on the Warriors’ single-season assists record, here is a look at some of the other records Lycoming has smashed this season:

• The Warriors’ season-opening 12 game win streak set the school’s standard for both best start to a season and longest winning streak.

• Williams broke the school’s career record for steals with his 182nd against Juniata. He now has 220 career steals.

• Williams broke the school’s single-game record for assists with 21 against Mount Aloysius.

• Williams broke the school’s career record for assists with his 433rd against Penn State Abington. He now has 509.

• Senior Mike Bradley tied the school record for blocked shots in a game with six against Messiah.

• Lycoming’s 116 points against Mount Aloysius were the most for the team since 1976.
