WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - From the beginning of the Lycoming College and Elizabethtown College women’s basketball teams’ rivalry in 1978, Yvonne Kauffman has been there. On Wednesday, Jan. 25, Kauffman will visit Lamade Gymnasium for the last time in the regular season as a coach, as the legend will retire after 42 years on the sidelines for the Blue Jays.
The Warriors (8-8 overall, 3-3 Commonwealth) will try and give Kauffman a less-than-happy farewell, as they look to move back into the top half of the Commonwealth Conference standings with a win over the Blue Jays.
The Blue Jays (11-5 overall, 4-2 Commonwealth) are coming off a 72-53 win over Alvernia and are looking to stay in third place in the league. Sophomore Taylor Krieder leads the team with 10.1 points and 9.3 rebounds per game.
Warrior Notes
• The Warriors need one more win to match the most in conference play since joining the Commonwealth Conference in 2007-08.
• With a win against the Blue Jays, Lycoming would enter the second half of the conference season with a winning record for the first time since 2003-04, when the team was a member of the Freedom Conference.
• Sophomore Julia Antonelli and junior Rachael Scheller have each led the team in scoring five times this year.
• Scheller needs 10 points to reach 500 in her career.
• Scheller needs five steals to become the fourth person in school history to post 50 twice in a career.
• Senior Erin Connaghan needs two steals to surpass her previous career high of 27 set as a junior.
• Freshman Kylee Sutton is three points from reaching 100 in her career and freshman Ali Derr is eight points from the milestone.
