WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Coming off their first loss of the season on Saturday, Jan. 7, at King’s, the Lycoming College men’s basketball responded by building a 19-point lead in the first 10 minutes of Wednesday night, Jan. 11’s Commonwealth Conference matchup with Lebanon Valley before cruising to a 92-61 win to stay undefeated in the league with the victory at Lamade Gym.
The Warriors (13-1 overall, 3-0 Commonwealth) used 24 fast-break points and 56 fast-break points, as they shot a solid 52 (37-of-72) percent from the floor. The Dutchmen (8-6 overall, 1-2 Commonwealth) fell victim to 16 turnovers, leading to 24 points, while the Warriors held them to just 28 (19-of-67) percent from the floor.
“I was very happy with our intensity,” Lycoming College head coach
Guy Rancourt said. “That’s a good Lebanon Valley team and a well-coached team. This wasn’t a normal conference game. Some times teams just can’t find the mark and we were fortunate to be on the positive end of that (Wednesday). I am hoping we dealt with that last Saturday and we can move on with it.”
After Lebanon Valley tied the game at two, senior
Mike Bradley (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Joseph’s Prep) hit a fastbreak bucket on a dish from junior
Ihsaan Davis (Jamaica, N.Y./Christ the King), starting a 16-5 run that gave Lycoming an 18-7 lead with 13:59 left. After a Dutchmen bucket, the Warriors scored the next six points to start a 12-2 run that was capped by a pair of free throws from sophomore
Kevin Anthony (Columbus, Ohio/Bridgton Academy) with 9:48.
Lebanon Valley cut the lead to 18 at 32-14 with 7:57 left, but the relentless Warriors went on another 18-4 run in a run that featured three fastbreak buckets. The Dutchmen closed the gap to 23 points at the half at 49-26 by scoring eight of the last nine points of the half.
The Warriors got the lead to as many as 42 points in the second half at 70-28 after a layup by Anthony, thanks to a 20-2 run, and Lebanon Valley never closed within 29 in the last 18:30, helping the Warriors clear the bench, as 12 players figured into the scoring.
Anthony led the Warriors with 18 points and freshman
Patrick Dougher (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains-Fanwood) added 17 thanks to five 3-pointers. Junior
Anthony Martin (Detroit, Mich./Christ the King) posted 12 points and five rebounds and Bradley posted 10 points and four boards. Junior
Jerald Williams (Riverdale, Md./Bladensberg) notched double-figure assists for the fourth straight game, as he finished with 14 in 21 minutes, also adding five points and five steals.
Sophomore
Michael Rudy (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) added eight points, a team-high eight rebounds and a game-high three blocks.
“Mike is an unsung hero on the team,” Rancourt said. “He’s a game-changer. He alters shots. He makes big plays. He’s always working.”

Lycoming will look to stay perfect in the Commonwealth Conference on Saturday, Jan. 14, when they head to Arcadia for a 3 p.m. start in the finale of a doubleheader. The women’s teams will tip at 1 p.m.
