GLENSIDE, Pa. –
Sophomore Janelle Poorman (Bellefonte, Pa./Bald Eagle Area) moved within a  homer of the Lycoming College softball team’s career record with a solo shot to right field in the second game of Tuesday, April 19’s doubleheader at Arcadia, but the Warriors fell twice, 10-2 and 5-4, in Commonwealth Conference action.

Poorman blasted her sixth career homer, and second in as many days, as she moved into a tie for third in school history, moving within one of the record held by Jen Shuler (1996-99) and Jessica Feerar (2000-03).

However, the Knights got two fifth-inning runs to come-from-behind for a 5-4 win in the second game to secure the sweep. A two-RBI single from Marissa Perez highlighted the inning.

The Warriors (9-13 overall, 3-5 Commonwealth) took a 2-0 lead in the first inning as sophomore Holly Lansberry (Curwensville, Pa./Curwensville Area) led off with a walk and a sophomore Taylor Lesser (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) singled. A passed ball moved the runners up a base for sophomore Brie Braga (New Bedford, Mass./New Bedford), who delivered a double to left-center.

The Knights (19-7 overall, 6-4 Commonwealth) got a run back in the bottom of the inning, but the Warriors took a 3-1 lead in the second after a double by freshman Katie Gross (Warminster, Pa./William Tennent) and a triple by freshman Samantha Gonzalez (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee). In the third, Poorman’s solo homer gave the Warriors a 4-1 lead, but the Knights got two runs in the bottom of the third to set up the game-winning hit from Perez in the fifth.

Gonzalez led the Warriors offensively, going 2-for-3 with an RBI, as the team finished with seven hits.

Jessica Wood (1-0) picked up the win for the Knights, allowing seven hits and four runs in five innings. Heather Buriak picked up the save with two innings of hitless relief. Braga (2-6) took the loss for the Warriors, allowing seven hits and four earned runs in five innings. Lansberry struck out the side in the sixth.

Brandee Zablotsky led the Knights, going 2-for-3 with a run and RBI.

In the first game, a five-run second inning helped the Knights take control, as they went on for a 10-2 win in six innings.

The Warriors jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, as Lansberry and Lesser walked to set up a  two-RBI double from Braga. After that, though, Arcadia starter Kelsey Roberts allowed just one runner past second base, as she went six innings and allowing just three hits and three walks. She struck out three.

The Knights got five runs on four hits in the second inning and added a homer in the fourth and three runs on three hits and two walks in the fifth before three hits in as many batters helped the Knights take a 10-2 lead in the sixth.

Freshman Abbi Miller (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) led the Warriors with two hits and Braga finished the doubleheader with two doubles and four RBI.

Leanda Helms led the Knights, going 2-for-3 with two runs, a homer and three RBI, Zablotsky went 2-for-4 with a run and RBI, Ashley McCarthy went 2-for-3 with a run and two RBI and Lindsey Henchinski went 2-for-3 with a run and RBI.

Lansberry (6-6) took the loss for the Warriors, allowing nine hits and four walks while striking out five in 4 2/3 innings.
