WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — The Lycoming College softball team placed a school-record 13 players on the Easton/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Scholar-Athlete team, as announced by the organization on Wednesday, August 12.

The honors recognize softball student-athletes with a 3.5 GPA during the 2025-26 academic year. Over 8,800 college softball players were honored nationwide, including nearly 2,500 at the Division III level.

For the Warriors, the honorees included five Class of 2026 graduates: infielders Claire Alexander (South Williamsport, Pa. / South Williamsport), Alex Eckerson (Hopatcong, N.J. / Morris Catholic), and Kristen George (Montoursville, Pa. / Montoursville Area), plus catcher Sophia Lerner (Scotch Plains, N.J. / Scotch Plains-Fairwood) and outfielder Mallory Rodarmel (Montoursville, Pa. / Loyalsock Township). Incoming seniors honored included outfielders Abby Becker (Myerstown, Pa. / Tulpehocken) and Lauren Miller (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin) and pitcher Kendall McAnelly (Williamsport, Pa. / Williamsport Area). Incoming junior outfielders Jocelyn McCracken (Jersey Shore, Pa. / Jersey Shore Area) and Serenity Snyder (Reading, Pa. / Governor Mifflin) and sophomore outfielders Kendall Cardone (South Williamsport, Pa. / South Williamsport) and Patricia Williams (Brick, N.J. / Brick Memorial), and pitcher Sage Smeltz (Tower City, Pa. / Williams Valley) were also mentioned.

Alexander, George, Lerner and Rodarmel were all four-time honorees, while Miller earned the award for a third time. McAnelly and Snyder are both two-time honorees.

The 13 honorees from the 2026 team breaks the mark of 12 NFCA Scholar-Athletes garnered in 2023.

In 13 years at the helm of Lycoming's softball program, head coach Melissa Montoro has coached 91 NFCA Scholar-Athletes.
