GAMBIER, Ohio –
Senior Stacy Flick (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) headed to the Kenyon College Invitational looking to improve on her NCAA “B” Provisional time in the 100-yard breaststroke, and with a time of 1:05.43 at the Kenyon Aquatic Center on Saturday, Feb. 19, Flick did just that, helping improve her bid to earn a trip to  the NCAA Championships.

“It ended up being worth it,” Flick said. “I dropped off on my time, even if it was seven-tenths of a second. I’m thrilled about the opportunity to make the NCAA Championships. Coach Hammaker told me that there hasn’t been a women swimmer at the meet since the ‘80s. I’m excited for the opportunity and, hopefully, I can make it.”

Flick, who swam the time during a time trial at the meet, will now wait to see if her NCAA “B” Provisional time in the breaststroke is good enough to qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships, which will be held at the University of Tennessee. The 100-yard breaststroke will be raced on Friday, March 25, with the trials set for 10 a.m. The unofficial psyche sheet for the championships will be posted on NCAA.com on Thursday, March 3.

Flick’s time, if raced entering the weekend, would be the 11th-fastest in Division III this season and will likely help her earn a bid to the championships. She also won her heat in the 100-yard breaststroke at the event with a time of 1:06.85 after the time trial.

Flick smashed a school record with her time-trial run, breaking the mark she set when she won the 100-yard breaststroke at the MAC Championships with a time of 1:06.13, shaving off more than half a second at Kenyon College.
